AI Researcher

Moreton Bay, Qld (hybrid) · Permanent, full-time

Identify, define, measure, analyse, and develop solutions across our AI research verticals, then work with industry partners and the Moreton Applied team to pilot, deploy and commercialise them. This role is designed for someone with a strong academic foundation who's eligible for and interested in PhD candidature; we can support that pathway.

What we're looking for:

Bachelor's or master's in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field – academic record suitable for PhD candidature (e.g. good grades, honours, master's by research, or similar)

A strong interest in developing skills in AI, machine learning, LLMs, and responsible AI practices

Exceptional critical thinking and clear written and verbal communication

Growth mindset – comfort working at the edge of what you know and learning as you go

R&D Director

Moreton Bay, Qld (hybrid) · Permanent, full-time

Orchestrate multi-stakeholder research and development programs across our target verticals – coordinating AI researchers, academic advisors, industry buyers, and government partners from problem definition through to commercialisation. You'll guide our research team to focus on impact, keep complex programs on track, on budget, and culturally safe, while protecting the research integrity that makes the work truly authoritative.

What we're looking for:

5+ years managing applied research, R&D, design or innovation programs in industry, NFPs, or government

Experience leading the co-design process from problem identification to solution operations and continuous improvement

Confident communicator across academic, industrial, and policy audiences

Comfortable owning timeline, scope, and budget for $500k–$5M programs
